Before your first summon
The Monster Hunter Outlanders gacha is the recruitment side of building a roster. The useful first question is whether a new Adventurer would change how you hunt. A portrait you like, a weapon you enjoy, and a role your squad needs are different reasons to recruit; none tells you the chance of getting that character.
Last source verification: October 30, 2026. Live banner verification: pending. This is a post-launch research note, not an account-tested rate sheet. We have not opened a live recruitment screen, spent currency, or tested a guarantee. Unknown in the tables below means we could not verify the rule for the released client; it does not mean the game has no rule.
Pocket Gamer’s October 14 recruitment report describes pulls for preset Adventurers, while the customizable Fated Adventurer uses equipment obtained through hunting and crafting. That is pre-launch reporting. Read the current pool before treating a character’s weapon as a separately summonable item. Our weapon guides explain the play styles; the Adventurer dossiers explain the individual kits.
Banner types and what to check
A banner is a recruitment offer with its own eligible rewards and rules. These labels come from pre-launch reporting, not a verified list of the banners currently open in your region.
| Reported banner type | Purpose in the reporting | Check in your client |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner recruitment | A starting recruitment offer | Eligibility, total-use limit, any discount, and whether its counter is separate |
| Standard recruitment | The regular recruitment pool | Every eligible reward, the ticket accepted, and any selection reward |
| Featured recruitment | An offer focused on a named Adventurer | Start/end time, the featured reward’s own rate, off-banner outcomes, and carryover terms |
Source: Pocket Gamer’s recruitment overview, reviewed October 30. Its guarantees are described as observations from earlier tests, so we do not adopt its pull counts as live rules.
Buddy availability needs a separate check. Pocket Gamer reports a move away from Buddy gacha, while GameWith’s October 29 guide still describes Buddy recruitment and explicitly labels its information as closed-beta data. Those sources do not establish the same current pool. Check free acquisition routes and the live reward list before planning a Buddy pull. Our companion guide keeps that distinction visible.
Rate table and last-verified date
This table records our verification status for the released game. We found no live rate disclosure that we could authenticate in the public sources reviewed. No numerical rate is asserted here. A beta screenshot, simulator, or article updated after launch is not automatically evidence from the launch client.
| Rate or rule | Released-client value | Last verified | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner recruitment: base SSR rate | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Source review only; live disclosure not inspected |
| Standard recruitment: base SSR rate | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Source review only; live disclosure not inspected |
| Featured recruitment: base SSR rate | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Source review only; live disclosure not inspected |
| Featured Adventurer: individual rate | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Do not substitute the total SSR rate |
| SR and other reward rates | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Pool composition and rarity splits need verification |
| Soft pity and hard pity | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Thresholds and reset behavior need live rules |
| Featured guarantee and carryover | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Eligibility and banner-to-banner transfer need verification |
| Spark or selectable recruitment reward | Unknown | 2026-10-30 | Availability, threshold, eligible choices, and expiry unverified |
The date means the sources were last checked, not that the unknown values were tested. We will replace an unknown only with evidence tied to a named banner, region, client version, and capture date. Until then, a probability calculator would require assumptions this guide cannot justify.
When reading a disclosure, separate the base rate per attempt from a combined rate including guarantees. Also separate a rarity pool from one named reward. A table can answer the chance of receiving any SSR without answering the chance of receiving your chosen Adventurer.
Pity, guarantees, and spark
These are terms to recognize in recruitment rules, not confirmed Outlanders mechanics:
- Soft pity means the chance increases after a stated condition. Without a published formula, a rising-probability simulation is an assumption.
- Hard pity means a qualifying reward is guaranteed by a stated attempt. Check what qualifies and what resets the count.
- Featured guarantee concerns a particular reward. A rarity guarantee alone may not promise that character.
- Spark usually means selecting an eligible reward after accumulating a specified amount of recruitment progress or exchange currency. It can have different conditions from random-pull pity.
Read carryover as its own rule. A shared-looking ticket or similar banner name does not prove that counters transfer. Record whether the rarity count, a missed-featured guarantee, and any selection progress each survive the banner’s end. Do not infer all three from a single remaining-pulls display.
Likewise, treat a ten-pull animation as a presentation choice until the rules establish a discount or guarantee. It is not enough to show that ten attempts offer better odds than ten individual attempts.
Contracts, coins, and the word orbs
The official website’s milestone panel names Standard Contracts. That confirms the reward’s name; it does not confirm delivery to your account or an exchange rate. Pocket Gamer reports Featured Contracts and Ruta Coins alongside Standard Contracts. Treat those as reported currency terms and match them to the labels in your client before converting anything.
| Resource label | What we can establish | Your check before using it |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Contract | Named in official milestone rewards | Eligible banner and the displayed ticket cost |
| Featured Contract | Named in pre-launch recruitment reporting | Which offer accepts it and whether it expires |
| Ruta Coins / Rutacoin | Currency named in recruitment reporting | Conversion cost, other uses, and paid/free balance rules |
| Orbs | Not verified as an official recruitment currency name in this review | Do not assume another game’s currency terminology applies |
Tickets already restricted to one offer and flexible currency are different decisions. Keep them separate in your notes. The codes and rewards guide also separates reported rewards from successful delivery; do not budget tickets that have not reached your inventory.
A beginner pull plan
Start with a hunt problem. Are you missing a comfortable weapon rhythm, struggling to recover, or choosing a role for friends? Try your available options first. A new kit is easier to evaluate when you know what it needs to improve.
Compare the character with the weapon. Read Midori’s dossier beside the Long Sword guide, or Madelyn’s dossier beside the Bow guide. A weapon family is a starting point for practice; a character’s skills may change what you need to learn. Those links do not imply either character is currently featured.
Use the tier list to choose a trial. Our dated Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list ranks investment fit and learning needs, with separate Adventurer and weapon boards. It has no measured damage ranking or verified pull-value calculation. A high letter cannot turn an unknown banner into a guaranteed upgrade.
Check the offer before converting currency. Read the eligible rewards, ticket cost, end time, and guarantee details. If one of those is unclear, keep flexible currency unspent. Set a limit you are comfortable using without the target; do not increase it just because earlier attempts missed.
Reassess after a useful result. Decide whether the new kit solves your original problem before seeking another copy. This guide has not verified duplicate requirements or their benefit. A single successful pull does not establish that more copies are necessary.
Keep a recruitment record
Before relying on a guarantee, note the banner name, region, client version, date, ticket type, and the rules’ exact wording. Capture the rate table and recruitment history for your own reference. Record the current counter separately from the number of attempts you remember making.
After a banner changes, compare the visible history and rules before spending again. If the records disagree, use the game’s official support route rather than guessing a reset rule. Our source ledger explains how public reporting and live-client evidence are kept separate.
Gacha questions
Is Monster Hunter Outlanders a gacha game?
Yes. Public recruitment reporting describes randomized Adventurer acquisition. This guide distinguishes that system from weapon practice and crafting, and leaves unverified live rates and guarantees unknown.
What are the Monster Hunter Outlanders gacha rates?
We have not verified the released client’s rate disclosures as of October 30, 2026. The table above records unknown values rather than presenting closed-beta percentages as live odds.
How many summons guarantee the featured Adventurer?
The live threshold is unverified here. Read the specific banner’s guarantee and reset rules; a guarantee for any high-rarity reward does not necessarily guarantee the featured character.
Does pity carry over between banners?
Carryover is unverified in this guide. Check each counter and guarantee separately in the current rules, including whether selection progress expires when an offer ends.
Should I reroll for the top tier?
Our tier list does not justify a reroll by itself. It offers conditional practice and investment advice, not tested account value. Learn your available kit and check recruitment terms before restarting.
